Friday with Friends

We randomly had an eventful Friday yesterday. We started this morning as we usually do – a garden stroll, as I affectionately call our walk to the side of the house where we have small raised garden bed. The boys did their morning pick of the ripest tomatoes and we checked in on our pumpkin vine. We have an abundance of cherry tomatoes so we decided to try our hand at making a cherry tomato jam. We used this recipe. BB2 was excited to help, by picking the stems off the tomatoes before adding them to the pot.

Right as I was deciding how to spend the rest of the morning a friend texted that they were headed to the zoo, and we should join if we were free, and since we were, we did! Although we are zoo regulars, the boys are always entertained feeding the deer and somehow the swings there are much better than the ones in our own backyard.

After the zoo, we swung by home to pick up Dad, who was done for the day, and met back up with our friends at Lake George. It was a cool day, so we sat at the picnic table for a chat and some food while 3 of the four kids had a car nap. They headed back home and we carried on to Aylesford Lake, just down the road, where we had never been before. Hardly anyone there and so many amenities! Large change/washrooms, playground, toy sharing bin, boat rentals, and a lifeguard. I did get changed into my bathing suit here, but it didn’t end up being warm enough to get too far into the water. BB1, however, got in for a swim.

On our way home we stopped by our favourite farm stand to pick up some corn! $3/dozen – can’t beat that!

And our cherry tomato jam turned out really great if I do say so myself!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
