Wheel of the Year: Tarot Cards for 2024

One thing I do at the start of every year is a Year Ahead Spread with my tarot cards. I’ve done this for the last three years now, using The Gentle Tarot.  Last year it correctly predicted I would give birth in October and not September like had I bet on. Check out last years spread on my Instagram here. I’m not all about tarot as a predictive practice, but I do find sometimes it has that element to it, so it’s fun to see what the year has in store, and even more fun to reflect back afterwards and see if what you pulled rang true for you.

Here are my cards for 2024:

12 tarot cards lay face up, one for each month of the year

Starting at the top center, January – Five of Pentacles / February – Nine of Swords / March – The World / April – The Magician / May – Page of Wands / June – The High Priestess / July – The Chariot  / August – King of Pentacles  / September – Ten of Wands / October – The Hierophant  / November – Seven of Swords / December – King of Swords

I’m hoping to do an update and reflection each month with my card for that month. In January I am working with the energy of the Five of Pentacles. This isn’t one of my favourite cards to work with, especially for an entire month. A card about hardship and struggle, and focusing on the negative. The one positive to this card, is it offers a simple solution. Pull your head out of the water, or, in the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith deck, simply turn around and see the solution. We are about half way through the month now, and keeping this card in mind, I have tried to focus less on the hardships that January bring; financially, mentally, etc. The struggle of entering hibernation as winter stretches out before us is always an hardship for me. I am hoping to be not such a winter-grump and make the most of indoor play time with the kids!

Thanks for reading, hope everyone’s 2024 is off to a great start! If you’ve pulled cards for your year ahead, or even just this month, let me know what card you’re working with for January below!
